Open NDT Vault and sign in with your Apple ID. Your account is used to identify you across devices and for cloud collaboration.
Tap the + button on the Home screen. Give your project a name (e.g., "Bridge Inspection - North Span") and optionally add a description.
Open your project and use the camera to capture your first defect. The app will automatically assign an ID and watermark the photo.
NDT Vault works fully offline. You don't need an internet connection to capture defects, manage equipment, or create reports.
Projects are the top-level organizer in NDT Vault. Each project contains defects, diagrams, equipment references, and inspection records.
From the Home screen, tap + to create a new project. Enter a name and optional description. Projects appear as cards on your home dashboard.
Open a project to see all defects displayed as a photo gallery. Each thumbnail shows the watermarked image with the defect ID. Tap any defect to view its full details, dimensions, and review history.
Swipe left on a project card to delete it, or tap into the project and use the settings icon to edit its name and description.
The camera is the heart of NDT Vault. Every photo you take is automatically watermarked with critical inspection information.
From within a project, tap the camera icon. Choose your preferred lens (wide, ultra-wide, or telephoto if available).
Before or after capturing, enter the defect category (e.g., Crack, Corrosion, Dent), dimensions, and any notes. These details are stamped onto the watermark.
Take the photo. NDT Vault generates both a watermarked version (with defect ID, category, dimensions, and timestamp) and saves the original. Both are stored in your project.
You can add multiple photos to a single defect by opening the defect detail screen and tapping "Add Photo".
After documenting defects, you can mark each one with a review status:
Keep a complete inventory of your NDT instruments with calibration tracking.
Go to the Equipment tab and tap +. Enter the instrument name, manufacturer, serial number, calibration date, and certificate number.
Each piece of equipment shows a color-coded status badge:
NDT Vault supports 6 industry-standard inspection report types:
Each form includes fields for procedures, acceptance criteria, test media, equipment used, calibration references, and detailed findings. Navigate to the Raw Data tab within a project to create a new report.
Import site diagrams, schematics, or layout images into your project. Place defect markers directly on the diagram to create an interactive map of inspection findings.
NDT Vault offers two ways to share your work:
Share a snapshot of your project via a 6-character code. Recipients can view the project in the app or on the web at ndtvault.botor.io. Changes you make are not synced automatically.
Convert any project to collaborative mode. All team members with the code can view and edit the project in real-time. Changes sync automatically across all devices.
You can view any shared project on the web by visiting ndtvault.botor.io and entering the 6-character share code.
Export your inspection data in multiple formats:
To export, open a project and tap the share/export icon in the toolbar.
